NEW YORK – February 27, 2017 – His Excellency Majid Al-Suwaidi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Consul General in New York, delivered keynote remarks at the inaugural World Affairs Council 2017 Travel Conference in Harrisburg, the capital city of Pennsylvania. The conference featured panel discussions on international travel trends and included an exhibition of tourism trade show booths.

During the conference, Consul General Al-Suwaidi provided insights on the UAE’s history and how it has become a model for a successful country.

“The UAE is a modern, oil exporting country with a highly-diversified economy,” Consul General Al-Suwaidi said. “In fact, the UAE stands as the 2nd largest economy in the Arab world, which is no small feat considering we’re less than 50 years old and have about 8 million people.”

Consul General Al-Suwaidi also highlighted the UAE’s tourist attractions, including its architecture, sports and entertainment, shopping and nature.

“The UAE is renowned for its architectural design, claiming some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world,” Consul General Al-Suwaidi said. “The country also has a myriad of sporting events and entertainment for young people and business travelers to enjoy.”

The event was held at Central Penn College and was attended by students and business professionals interested in international travel opportunities.
